Building WEC’s Dome Greenhouse

Construction of WEC’s dome greenhouse began in spring 2023 and was completed in spring 2024.

Want to know more about the Dome itself?

It’s a large 33’ diameter geodesic growing dome, manufactured by Arctic Acres. The main features of the growing dome structure include:

  • Geodesic wooden frame

  • Polycarbonate greenhouse panels

  • Reflective insulation on the north wall

  • Above ground pond

  • Solar powered intake and exhaust fans

  • Interior raised beds

The dome is a 3-season functional greenhouse.

How does it work?

Garden beds in the dome greenhouse are shared via partnerships with community groups to grow food together. All materials are provided including seeds, seedlings, compost, tools and more!

We offer gardening workshops and the Dome is also available for workshops, tours, and other events.
