Western Environment Centre of Newfoundland
We’re dedicated to engaging our community in food and climate action through impactful, educational initiatives.
Since 1998, we’ve grown from a small citizens' group to a thriving environmental organization here in Western Newfoundland.
Our Mission
We strive to inspire a community of environmentally active citizens through education, action, and dialogue.
Our Focus
Local food systems
Our projects engage our members in hands-on sustainability programs through our community gardens, fruit rescue, and community composting programs. We collaborate with other organizations like the Wonderful Fine Market and Food First NL to create opportunities for you to be actively involved in issues that you care about in your own community.
Climate action
Our knowledge-building workshops help to connect members with greener living, and the Green Drinks Speakers Series pairs academic and community speakers on critical environmental topics. We also organize other public events on current issues such as debates, and provide a voice that is well-informed and passionate through policy engagement.
